As New Meadowlands Stadium Get Closer to Completion,The Demolition of Giants Stadium Begins
The demolition of the old stadium began today. It will continue for a couple of months, ending Mid-Summer.
The location to undergo the initial demolition- formerly known as “Gate B” at the old Stadium - was selected first because its removal is essential for New Meadowlands construction. The old site of the Gate B Helix will begin to be transformed into the new Plaza at New Meadowlands Stadium. The Plaza will be complete and a temporary parking lot will be ready for the 2010 NFL football Season.
There is no wrecking ball but rather a basket at the end of the crane that will slowly demolish piece by piece the Gate B spiral from top to bottom on the outside of the stadium. There will also be small machines on the inside that will move debris on the inside of the existing stadium.
